There has been memos and talk that all teachers are moving into the direction of being a highly qualified teacher. Some of those memos include taking the Praxis II for all teachers and you must be "qualified" in a specialty area.
For most secondary teachers, this is not an issue. But if you are an elementary teacher like myself, you have to be specialized in something and that means taking the Praxis II and passing it and having a specialty. If you are one of those teachers who happened to get a master's degree in either Special Education, Language and Literacy, or ESL, you have fulfilled that "specialty" area.
I on the other hand, do have a master's degree, one I worked hard to earn, but not in any of those areas. So what does that mean for me?
